First we learned what STEAM stood for.
S for Science
T for Technology
E for Engineering
A for the Arts
and M for Maths
Then we were given challenges. The first to make a chair using newspaper, string and straws that was able to hold a figure made out of multi-link blocks.
Then; make a table that was able to balance M&Ms for the team. We were much better at the second challenge because we discussed our ideas and used all of them to build a strong table that could hold all of the M&Ms.
In Literacy we learned to write up science experiments and to write a technology report using the design process of ask, imagine, plan, create, improve and share.
Our next step was to form teams and ask ourselves the big question again.
My team made bubblegum and lemonade lip scrubs. We found some really good lip scrub recipes and made some changes to make them even better.
Reflection
My highlight from this PBL was that all our lip scrubs sold out really quickly and that people really loved our product. It was also really fun to make the lip scrub and I really enjoyed
Next time I would put an umbrella above our stand so that our lip scrubs wouldn’t melt. I would also try make the lip scrubs less oily because they were quite a bit oily so I had to make them all again.
